twotwentytwo is a video based installation exploring themes of intimacy and collective romantic experiences. The title comes from the angel numbers for love, patience and faith.
The installation is comprised of two videos that merge into each other as the spectator comes closer to the sensor. The first video depicts immersed in a tender and intimate moment. As the spectator approaches, the images distort themselves and bodies become unrecognizable pixelated landscapes. The video acts as an optical illusion for intimacy. You think you understand or know what’s going on, but as you approach, images are distorted and perplexed. These effects were done in max MSP, Isadora, and DaVinci resolve.
The distortion is commentary on how love and intimacy becomes more complex as one gets closer to someone. What once felt simple slowly melts into tribulations, conflicts, burning passion and all those other emotions that only arise as more time is spent with someone.
